Within the end of 2006 has to be performed the Apulia Master plan in order to bring up the value of the Sea Highways.
Therefore the do*****ent regarding the harbour infrastructures, drawn up by Ram (Sea Highway net) techinicians and Transports concillorship, will be demanded from Master plan and taken up to European Union attention.
The various intervents to be performed have been scheduled with the cooperation of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto port authorities. Taranto is waiting for the optimization of the highway net connection with the linking-stretch of Massafra. The investment foreseen for Apulia Region is equal to €94.000.000. This sum will be drawn from regional, state, european and also private resources

Increase and optimize the system and also the organization of the transports with particular attention to the ports rule in order to improve the accessibility, decrease the traffic jam and promote the intermodal transport in the Arch-Med regions and along the axis Italy-Greece-Turkey-Mediterranean Sea-Black Sea, also in a view of heavy means of transport traffic increase after the completion of the Egnatia highway axis.
This is the general goal of project so-called “New.ton Networking ports to promote intermodal transport and better access to hinterland”.
This is the reason why three Hellenic port authorities (Igoumenitsa, Kavala and Salonicco) met in Taranto with the other involved public authorities. Taranto Port Authority is going to promote a new possible traffic of ro/ro ships and passengers
