September, 08 2004

TARANTO - Zim line suspended Haifa from its routing concentrating on Taranto all its international traffic. For the moment it is a temporary solution that is useful to face the full calendar of strikes proclaimed to Haifa from the maritime and port environment against the aim to privatize the Company. Since 84% of the Zim traffic is international, while only 16% is about the internal market, the Company Zim has decided to lean on the Italian hub that is more available and better located according to its rotations. Once the situation to Haifa is normalized, the Company spokesman announced, Zim would go back to the equipping port. The usage of Taranto and the efficiency of the above-mentioned Container Terminal in any case have pushed Zim to modify some operative procedures in order to adapt themselves to the innovations
